What the YouTube Channel Is Actually About

The name comes from climbing. Beta is information about a route: what the moves are, where the holds are, what nobody tells you until you are already up there. Good beta is the difference between a trip that works and one that does not, and it travels person to person rather than top down.

That is what this channel is for. Not the gear haul where everything is sponsored and nothing has been carried more than twice. Not the vlog where the point is how hard the trip was. Just what actually worked, what did not, and what I would want to know before buying it.

The first video is a cook kit, which took me about five or six years to get around to making. A buddy and I agreed we both had to do a cook kit video when we talked about starting channels. He did his. Mine is the same kit I have carried for roughly five years, which is either patience or procrastination depending on how you look at it.

I am not a professional anything. I live in Tennessee and my testing ground is whatever is in front of me. If a piece of gear earns its place in the bag it stays, and if it does not I will say so.
